You’ve added extra ingredients alongside collagen, why?
Creating the perfect fusion of ingredients is what took us so much time.
We all know our collagen levels decline as we age but counteracting this is about so much more than just taking high dose collagen. Our body has clever in-built systems for building its own collagen and maintaining it, but we need to support these with the right nutrients (Vitamin C and zinc are needed to form collagen in the skin (1)) to keep these processes efficient. Not only does this help us make MORE new collagen, it also helps the body to MAINTAIN it and prevent it breaking down as fast. This is something that no other collagen products give attention to, and it is what makes Collagen Edition so special.
What can Collagen Edition help with?
It can help the skin in all sorts of ways. It’s excellent for helping to combat dull, lacklustre skin that needs a pep-me-up, or for anyone looking to enhance their glow ahead of an event.

Why did you decide to add in keratin?
Your skin benefits from both keratin and collagen, as they play distinct yet complementary roles in providing structural support. Together, they contribute to enhancing the overall health and appearance of your skin.
Keratin is an essential structural component found in the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of your skin. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the strength, flexibility, and protective barrier function of the skin. Keratin also aids in waterproofing the skin and with wound/scar healing. Research has shown that people who took Cynatine®HNS keratin, the specific form we use in Collagen Edition, experienced smoother and more elastic skin within just 30 days compared to placebo (2).
When keratin is combined with collagen, it provides a unique level of support to your skin that cannot be achieved with collagen alone.

What is Cynatine®HNS keratin and what can it do for my hair & nails?
Much like collagen is the main structural component found in our skin, keratin is what keeps our nails and hair strong. Cynatine®HNS is the only clinically researched keratin supplement, with double blind placebo-controlled trials showing that after just 30 days, people experienced a remarkable 65% increase in hair glossiness, and an 18% increase in hair structure and growth (3). There was also 20% less hair loss - so overall you’re looking at thicker, longer and strong hair (3).
When it comes to nails, after just 30 days of taking Cynatine® keratin, nails were reported to be 88% stronger (3). This is thought to be because the soluble keratin is able to bind to the nail bed, strengthen and lock in moisture.
Where is your keratin sourced from?
Cynatine® HNS keratin comes from sustainably sourced lamb’s wool. Most keratin comes from chicken feathers, but the keratin found in lamb’s wool has a similar chemical amino acid structure to our own. This means it is more absorbable, and fuses better with our own keratin, helping to give better results for our hair, skin and nails.
You also add glutathione. How can this help my skin?
Glutathione plays a crucial role in protecting skin from oxidative stress and damage caused by UV radiation, pollution, and other environmental factors. Scientific studies have shown that increased glutathione levels can lead to improved skin health.
Glutathione may help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by protecting collagen and elastin fibres owing to its powerhouse anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and this is what led us to add it into Collagen Edition.
A study published in the Journal of Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigational Dermatology demonstrated a significant reduction in skin pigmentation after glutathione supplementation (4, 5) and therefore it is often used to help improve uneven, sun damaged skin.
Is this product meant for younger or older skin?
Collagen Edition is suitable for either younger or older skin types and is really anyone’s secret weapon on the quest for glowing, youthful skin created from the inside-out and the ultimate antidote to skin ageing.
- For younger skin, not only help from a preventative point of view, but will also work to improve brightness, texture and glow thanks to the glutathione, vitamin C and zinc. It’s also great if you have scarring, and don’t forget you’ll also benefit from the keratin for hair growth.
- For older skin it can also help with the above, but it is actively going to work to increase the amount of collagen in your skin’s dermis layer, which is what can take a hit as we get older.
Where is your collagen sourced from?
Not all collagen is created equal. We are meticulous in sourcing sustainably from the hides of pasture fed cattle that are free from hormones & chemicals. Our type 1 hydrolysed collagen peptides are 2000Da’s, the lowest molecular weight to ensure maximum bio-availability.
We also specifically chose to source bovine collagen for the following reasons:
- Firstly, bovine is rich in type 1 collagen - the strongest, most abundant type found in skin, joints, hair
- Bovine collagen is very similar to the collagen we produce naturally ourselves throughout the body
- Research shows that it is stable and highly bio-available, meaning that the hydrolysed collagen peptides get well absorbed into the body.
- There are numerous independently conducted, clinical research trials that show that bovine collagen stimulates our own collagen producing cells to produce more of their own collagen - a double whammy.
- It is free of allergens, meaning that those with a fish allergy can still take the product.
- Bovine collagen tastes great and very mixes well with drinks - juices, smoothie, coffee and even just plain water.
- There is also evidence to suggest that bovine collagen is helpful for gut health and intestinal permeability (also known as ‘leaky gut’) which can be a contributing factor to some skin conditions.
We love marine collagen and use this in Beauty Formula because it is very supportive of the skin. Because Collagen Edition has been designed to work perfectly alongside Beauty Formula (more on this below) we wanted to include a different form of collagen in this, so that you can benefit from both.
Why don’t we use vegan collagen?
Because collagen comes from animals only and doesn’t exist in the plant world, there is unfortunately no such thing as vegan collagen pr se. Existing formulations that label themselves as vegan ‘collagens’ are combinations of amino acids created to mimic collagen, and the research on these are currently in their infancy. When there is more compelling evidence as to the benefits of supplementing these on our skin, hair, joints and gut, we will definitely be looking to formulate something special. At Equi we are all about giving you results and for now, unfortunately the science just isn’t there.
Other supplements contain more collagen that you per dose, why should I take Equi?
Three words we believe apply to all supplements - Quality over Quantity.
More really does not doesn’t necessarily mean merrier and there is evidence to suggest that high doses of collagen can’t be absorbed by the gut, meaning some of it will go to waste.
We combine 4g bovine collagen per daily dose in Collagen Edition, and combine it with other ingredients that naturally support your body’s own collagen production such as zinc and vitamin C. We also add in glutathione, to help preserve this collagen for longer making a more sustainable, 360-degree approach to skincare.
This also means it can be combined with Beauty Formula - more on this below.
How quickly can I start seeing results? How often should I take them?
A jar contains 20 doses, and though we would expect you to see results with skin in 2-3 weeks, for a transformation we suggest taking it for 2-3 months... it can take this long for new, healthy skin cells to reach the surface to outwardly show off your better skin.
Can I take Collagen Edition with Beauty Formula? How are they different?
You absolutely can and they have been formulated to work well together.
Beauty Formula is our best seller, has an already proven track success and thousands of 5* reviews. Beauty Formula is brilliant if you have a skin complaint because it helps to nourish your complexion by supporting the whole body, as well as giving the key nutrients to support the skin directly (this is also why it’s a little more expensive).
Meanwhile, Collagen Edition doubles down on collagen and keratin specifically. It targets these systems with focussed ingredients to give a real boost, but without offering the same whole-body support as Beauty Formula (you’d need to take this on top if you wanted it). The approach is slightly different, but both give incredible results and they work perfectly together.
When we set out to create our collagen product, we wanted to formulate something special that would go above and beyond the many other collagen products on the market. Having spent years researching and witnessing what really works, we pulled 5 of the key skin nourishing ingredients from Beauty Formula to create a very special collagen product.

Should I take them at the same time of day?
For maximum benefits, separate the doses of Beauty Formula & Collagen Edition if you can. This allows for more collagen to be absorbed at anyone sitting
Beauty Formula is best earlier in the day as it can also be energising. Collagen Edition can be taken anytime but leave 2-3 hours ideally after Beauty Formula to benefit from maximum collagen absorption.
If this isn’t possible, don’t worry they can be taken together.
Can you take Collagen Edition with other Formulas?
Yes – it works well alongside all our Formula range. Though you can take it alongside Pregnancy Formula, you cannot take Collagen Edition when pregnant or breastfeeding (this is because research is not done on pregnant ladies with supplements, so we always like to stay on the side of caution during this time).
What about Collagen Edition and Beauty Oil Edition?
Beauty Oil Edition and Collagen Edition work brilliantly and can also be taken together with Beauty Formula - a trinity of products for a youthful glow.
